Trip to Savannah

Posted on March 30, 2011. Filed under: travel |

Last weekend we made the trek so Savannah for a wedding.  Despite spending 2 gorgeous days exploring and taking in the sights I have no pictures of Savannah to share.  I do have a few great shots of our little traveler.  The first few are of E testing out our hotel room.  He loved standing in front of the fan and feeling the breeze blow through his hair.  Per usual the remote control was a favorite toy, and this one daddy wasn’t nearly as concerned about E drooling on.  Also he loved pulling on and eating the toilet paper.  All three items seemed to meet his exacting standards.

As for the sights of Savannah, E didn’t find the beautiful parks, trees and buildings nearly as interesting as we did.  He did enjoy riding in his stroller and struggling to get his own foot in mouth.  Flexibility isn’t his strong suit, so I was very impressed with this feat.

The wedding was wonderful….and wet!  After the outdoor ceremony in a torrential downpour we went to the reception site….which was also outdoors.  Luckily that had an indoor space available to us to use while we ate and just as everyone was finishing their meals the weather cleared up and we all went outside to dance and celebrate the wedding.

10 Months

Happy 10 Month Birthday E!  As you can see by this picture E was very excited for his photo-shoot with Tommy Vick (“TV”), as soon as he saw TV sitting in the chair, E knew what was up.  After E smiles nicely for the first couple pictures he shows TV who is boss.

paths of Destruction

Posted on March 20, 2011. Filed under: E, home improvement |

After being a little under the weather last weekend and early this week we have our E back to normal.  This afternoon he to exploring unknown territory and testing his environment.

E’s first bits of toilet paper.  It looks like he has a scowl on his face, but it is actually the backend of a smile, my camera is just not fast enough for him.   IMG_0624 His bouncy seat has never been more fun or functional as it has been lately, he uses it for playing and drinking his bottles.

IMG_0625Opening drawers in his room and taking things out of the drawer.  Apparently he wanted his sheets refolded.

IMG_0628  Then he decided to take the stuff off of his shelves.

Then on to the kitchen to take the Tupperware out of the drawer and to empty out the cabinets.  We bought some cabinet locks this weekend, but the new fancy locks that we bought won’t work on our 1950s cabinets.  We will have to just continue moving items to higher ground.

We can certainly say that he is always keeping us on our toes.  With our itty-bitty house it doesn’t take long for E to explore and destroy any and every area he sets his sights on.

Random Thoughts and Stats

Posted on March 7, 2011. Filed under: E, life & times, stats |

We got E a big boy car seat.  Seems to be pretty happy sitting in it, he definitely likes it more than his other car seat which was getting a little snug.  As of his 9 month appointment last week he weighs 19 pounds and is 28 inches long.  He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight but is still in the 100th percentile for hair and drool!   IMG_0590

This is one of my favorite things….the way he rubs his eyes when he is tired.  He also has a very big over exaggerated yawn, the untrained eye might think it means that he is tired, but it actually means he is bored.  The telltale sign that he is tired is when he rubs his eyes.

Look at those eyelashes!  I also love the way his nose is so scrunched up in this picture.  He is eating pineapple, it was so sweet and tart at the same time and his nose shows it.IMG_0594

Okay, sue me…yes, our son is wearing a ponytail.  Its not our fault he was blessed with this full head of locks. Sometimes he needs his hair pulled out of his face and we just can’t bring ourselves to give him his first haircut.   Anyway, I think the ponytail looks very masculine, like a sumo-wrestler or a soccer player from Brazil.

This series crakes me up.   E sees his girlfriend from across the room….crawls and until he is close enough to pull to a standing position….. IMG_0597He proceeds to hug her and then pull her down to the mat, where continues to hug and snuggle her…..she on the other hand wants nothing to do with him…..this might be E’s first experience with unrequited love.

This weekend I was feeling under the weather, so J gave me a break on Sunday morning and let me take a nap while he entertained E.  J being the brilliant and imaginative father that he is, fashioned a drippings pan into a hat for E and told E that he was a conquistador.  The title of conquistador couldn’t have been more true, he conquered all sorts of things in our house this weekend….the kitchen cabinet and drawers, our entertainment center, coffee table, bookshelf, bathroom, laundry room, mommy & daddy….all that remained was a pile of debris in his wake. IMG_0603On a funny side note this weekend we cooked amaranth for E, initially he wasn’t very pleased with it, but after we mixed a healthy amount of oatmeal in he deemed it acceptable.  Today, while doing some research I found this….”amaranth was banned by the conquistadores upon their conquest of the Aztec nation”….now his distaste for amaranth makes perfect sense.

In the OJ Freshly Squeezed house, today is February 29th, otherwise E would miss out on his 3/4 birthday.  E continues to amaze us each day.  He is now regularly crawling on all fours, he still mixes in some scooting when he wants to get somewhere quickly.  He feeds himself finger foods, drinks out of a sippy cup, walks confidently with a walker, pulls himself to standing, and cruises around our coffee table.   He can also play hide-n-seek and peek-a-boo and sometimes while he is playing at his toy box he will sit in a kneeling position.  Some of the new foods he has tried are: salmon, lima beans, quinoa and black beans.  I’m proud to say that he eats like a champ and so far appears to be willing to eat anything.  I love to watch him chew because he puts so much thought and effort into it.IMG_0578
