Singing in the Rain

Posted on September 17, 2012. Filed under: E, life & times, pictures |

E loves to walk around in the rain while carrying an umbrella.

He also sings “Its Raining, It’s Pouring”

J obliges and walks around with him until they are both soaked

I try to quickly grab my camera and capture a few of these sweet moments.

March Misc.

I like this one because he looks like such a big boy sitting and writing at the table.

I think E was attempting to smile in this photo.

Quiet contemplation on the deck.

I think he is studying an inchworm or some other bug.

Grandma in town for my birthday.

These were taken just before we took her to the airport.

E cried when we dropped her off.

It was heartbreaking.

This is a picture of pure joy and happiness.

20 Months

Posted on February 19, 2012. Filed under: birthday, life & times |

20 Months, that is how long it took for E to become a “Big Boy”.

In the past month E has displayed so many big boy attributes.

He has held a girl’s hand.

They grabbed hands in the parking garage going to school and held all the way through the elevator ride.

You can’t blame him, L is so cute.

On the night of the Super Bowl, he got a bloody nose.

He shrugged it off like it was no big deal.

It looks than it was, the mess on his shirt is from making Valentines.

He stayed the night at our neighbors house, he left our house and walked next store.

He did look back twice to say good-bye, but never shed a tear about us leaving him.

They had make your own pizzas that night for dinner,

so it is no surprise that E was eager to go to their house.

Here are E and J reading books before going to sleep.

Despite turning into such a little man,

every once in a while when he is snuggled up with his blanket,

I remember he will always be my baby.

Busy Bees….zoom Zoom

Posted on July 21, 2011. Filed under: E, family, holiday, life & times |

We have been busy bees for the last month…So much to do….So little time to blog…..

Anyway, the deck is finished.  We had lighting installed on the interior posts and across the front step.  It looks awesome.  Now we will just have to get some furniture out there so we can really start enjoying all of this additional space.

For the Fourth of July weekend we went up to the lake.  The weekend was full of boat rides, playing on the “beach”, food prepared on a grill, family & raft time.  We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.  One of the special treats was my brother and his wife came down from South Carolina to visit.  It was their first time to visit with E.  By the end of the weekend E was smitten with Uncle K and Aunt N and I think they felt the same way.  Hopefully they will come back to visit soon!

The following weekend E had a water play date with all of his friends from my prenatal yoga class.  It is hard to believe that a little over a year ago….these little ones were still in our bellies!  I think you will see by these pics that E excels at water sports!

Lastly we made a major change to the family lineup.  As people say…out with the old and in with the new!!  After 9 wonderful years of faithful service, my zippy little car was traded in for a new “family” mobile.  I have lots of great memories with that car…she moved to Atlanta with me.  She is the first car I ever bought for myself.  She never let me down, always started when I needed her to and brought me home safely from many adventures.  I was sad to see her go, but I love my new car….all I can say is Zoom Zoom Zoom.

That gets us pretty well caught up.  Now I can make it through a couple days without feeling guilty about not blogging.

A confession…

Posted on April 11, 2011. Filed under: life & times |

I must confess, I’ve been avoiding my computer.  It wasn’t intentional, it was a subconscious decision.  I feel like if I’m at my computer and my taxes haven’t been filed then I should be working on my taxes and not doing fun stuff like blogging.  So I’ve been avoiding my computer.  Tonight I worked on my taxes, so I’m treating myself (and you) to a little blogging.  The last couple weeks have been fairly low key.  Last week we had some big storms come through Atlanta, there were lots of trees down in our neighborhood, including one that hit our neighbors house.  Luckily we had our enormous dead tree removed from our backyard two summers ago, so our property is pretty safe.

The Master’s was this weekend so E wore the shirt J got him last year to celebrate the start of the tournament.   IMG_0979

On Thursday evening we had an impromptu visit from our next door neighbor J, right before bedtime.  Can you believe these boys have matching pajamas?  I promise this wasn’t planned.  It was a major challenge to get both boys to look at me at one time.

On Sunday we went to a play group with couple moms from my Prenatal Yoga Class.  It is hard to believe that we were all very pregnant a year ago at this time and it is even harder to believe how much they have gone up over the last year.  Here is E with his friend S.  Aren’t they just too cute for words?  I failed to get a picture of the cute little girl that was also there.  Ugh, that camera never makes it out fast enough. Random Thoughts and Stats

Posted on March 7, 2011. Filed under: E, life & times, stats |

We got E a big boy car seat.  Seems to be pretty happy sitting in it, he definitely likes it more than his other car seat which was getting a little snug.  As of his 9 month appointment last week he weighs 19 pounds and is 28 inches long.  He is in the 50th percentile for height and weight but is still in the 100th percentile for hair and drool!   IMG_0590

This is one of my favorite things….the way he rubs his eyes when he is tired.  He also has a very big over exaggerated yawn, the untrained eye might think it means that he is tired, but it actually means he is bored.  The telltale sign that he is tired is when he rubs his eyes.

Look at those eyelashes!  I also love the way his nose is so scrunched up in this picture.  He is eating pineapple, it was so sweet and tart at the same time and his nose shows it.IMG_0594

Okay, sue me…yes, our son is wearing a ponytail.  Its not our fault he was blessed with this full head of locks. Sometimes he needs his hair pulled out of his face and we just can’t bring ourselves to give him his first haircut.   Anyway, I think the ponytail looks very masculine, like a sumo-wrestler or a soccer player from Brazil.

This series crakes me up.   E sees his girlfriend from across the room….crawls and until he is close enough to pull to a standing position….. IMG_0597He proceeds to hug her and then pull her down to the mat, where continues to hug and snuggle her…..she on the other hand wants nothing to do with him…..this might be E’s first experience with unrequited love.

This weekend I was feeling under the weather, so J gave me a break on Sunday morning and let me take a nap while he entertained E.  J being the brilliant and imaginative father that he is, fashioned a drippings pan into a hat for E and told E that he was a conquistador.  The title of conquistador couldn’t have been more true, he conquered all sorts of things in our house this weekend….the kitchen cabinet and drawers, our entertainment center, coffee table, bookshelf, bathroom, laundry room, mommy & daddy….all that remained was a pile of debris in his wake. IMG_0603On a funny side note this weekend we cooked amaranth for E, initially he wasn’t very pleased with it, but after we mixed a healthy amount of oatmeal in he deemed it acceptable.  Today, while doing some research I found this….”amaranth was banned by the conquistadores upon their conquest of the Aztec nation”….now his distaste for amaranth makes perfect sense.

Who wears Short Shorts???

Posted on February 28, 2011. Filed under: E, life & times, pictures |

E wears short shorts!  These shorts are from the end of last summer.  They fit fine then, but seem a little bit snug now.  I guess as it warms up we will have to get him some more appropriately sized warm weather attire.  I got to say it though.  I love those cute little thighs.

Car Keys Are Not Teething Rings

Posted on February 24, 2011. Filed under: life & times |

Tuesday morning had an interesting start to the day.  At 7:30 am E and I walked out of the front down loaded down with our gear for the day.  J was at the gym doing his firs official cross-fit workout, so E and I were on our own.  It has become habit that when I’m carrying E and our numerous bags I let him carry the keys.  He likes to chew on them and get them nice an slobbery for me.  Then we sat down in the back seat while working on getting E buckled in he happened to press the lock button on my car remote.  I immediately thought to myself, I should unlock the door before I get out of the car.  I took the keys from his hands, threw them on the front driver side seat, finished buckling E in, stepped out of the car and immediately closed the rear door.

My heart immediately sunk, I knew what I’d done before I put a hand on the door.  All I had to do was step forward see my keys laying on the front driver side seat to confirm what I knew was true, I had locked E in the car.  Of course the second set of keys were in the house, and my cell phone was locked in the car.  It wouldn’t have helped anyway because I knew that J left his phone on the nightstand.  So I stood there staring at E through the rear window running through any possible solution in my mind.  The good news was I knew that J would be home within 15 or 30 minutes.  So I didn’t panic, I smiled and waved and E and he seemed pretty happy.  After a couple minutes our neighbor M walked out to his car with his son J.  M gave me a friendly wave good morning so I walked over and explained the situation.  M immediately volunteered to drive around the corner to the gym (about 1/2 mile away) and alert J.  Before M left he asked if I could watch his son while he went to get J.  I said “sure”.  So here I am standing outside of my car, staring into the rear passenger side window and smiling at E, while holding my neighbors 1 1/2 year old in my arms.  I’m sure it was a sight to be seen.  Surprisingly enough E was happy through the whole event.  He didn’t make a peep until J arrived and unlocked the door to the car.  I think it was a “why is everyone standing around, lets get this show on the road” kind of yelp.

After this was all over I had many things to be thankful about:  it wasn’t hot, cold, raining, snowing or sleeting, J was close by & for the best neighbors ever.

The Lion Tamer

Posted on February 22, 2011. Filed under: E, life & times |

That might be a slight exaggeration.  E isn’t a lion tamer yet, but he did discover cats this weekend.  We went to visit both of J’s parents this weekend.  Both sets live just outside of Atlanta and both happen to have at least one cat.  Well our little man was like Steve Irwin hunting the cats around the house.  I was so impressed with how much ground he covered as he slithered and scooted.  He had so much patience and focus while stalking his “prey”.  When he finally got his hold on one of the cat’s (while it was eating), E grabbed a hand full of fur.

All of the that cat hunting really wore E out, he passed out on a rug in the middle of living room.  I must admit that sheep skin rug was pretty darn comfortable, I almost feel asleep there also.

If You’re Not sure Where E is…

Posted on February 6, 2011. Filed under: E, life & times |

He is probably behind the door playing with the door stop…..

Or seeking out any low-lying cords and plugs….

He doesn’t appear to have a preference for a particular type of cord or wire…he also loves speaker wire.

If you pull him away from a cord, wire or plug….this is the face he will show you….I’m shaking in my slippers just looking at those teeth!  Can you hear him growling???
