Singing in the Rain
E loves to walk around in the rain while carrying an umbrella.
He also sings “Its Raining, It’s Pouring”
J obliges and walks around with him until they are both soaked
I try to quickly grab my camera and capture a few of these sweet moments.

I like how this photo session unfolded.
E started out completely disinterested in taking a picture,
and then he started taking his shoes and socks off and throwing them at me
suddenly he was all smiles and hamming it up.
It is fitting that I captured him taking his shoes off because this is a very common occurrence.
He takes his shoes off on he drive home from school and often throws his socks at me.
I call him my little hippie.
Some words to capture E right now.

This is a “smiling photo”.
Maybe we need a faster camera.
Message to O’s Dad, notice the tee-shirt E is wearing.
We saved it for a special occasion.
If you are wondering what the shirt says, it spells our “Heisenberg” using the periodic table.
You need to watch Breaking Bad (the best show on Television) to understand.
E is already preparing for his future and practicing spreading shaving cream over his entire face.
This is from haircut number 5, E is officially a pro at getting his haircut.

Today at E’s school they had an event to celebrate different cultures. Each class was turned into a different country and then they used passports to travel to the other countries and learn about other cultures. As you may have guessed from they title E’s class was Greece. In honor of their Greek “culture” they wore togas. It was so freaking cute seeing all of the little ones in his class wearing their togas. Toga, Toga, To-ga!

Our little guy’s personality continues to develop. One of the new things is E likes is small places. He likes them when he is happy and when he is throwing fits. Here are pictures of two of his favorite hiding spots. He loves the space between our bed and the wall. I keep my body pillow folded up over there and E loves to sit on top of the pillow. He giggles while we walk around the room pretending to look for him.
He also likes the space behind the recliner in his room. There is a Boppy pillow back there that he sits on while reading books. Getting out of this spot can be very treacherous.
When he isn’t hiding, he likes to hide stuff. Look carefully at the picture on the left, you can see something peaking out of the bottom of the door, you can imagine our surprise when I opened the door and found a sizeable pile of feminine hygiene products.
Besides hiding stuff and hiding from us we are surprised each day by how much his understanding is increasing. If he is hungry and we ask him if he wants to eat, he will stand by his highchair. If we ask him if he wants to go outside he will stand by the front door. He is even starting to locate his nose on demand and is trying to make animal noises. He also knows a number of signs, his most regularly used sign right now is “please”.

It is so hard to believe that an entire year has passed. In true household form we are going to stretch this birthday celebration out for a few more days of blogging entries.

After looking through these pictures, I have two major observations. E’s smile and hair have gotten big!!

Yesterday was E’s 1st birthday and what an amazing year it has been. We are enamored with our little guy. This last month has been amazing. E started walking. We love to watch him toddle along, crawling is still much faster, so he doesn’t walk full time, but when he does it he is so cute. After he covers a long stretch of ground he so proud of himself. He has also started mimicking, he copies sneezes and coughs. It is so funny to watch him do his little fake sneeze….He lets out a little ”aaahhhh choo!” after an exaggerated head nod. Lately has also been exerting his independent streak especially during meal time. He only likes to eat foods that he can feed to himself. If we try to feed him something that requires a spoon it takes 3 spoons (one for each of his hands and one for for feeder) and a lot of patience. He also achieved some not so great firsts over the last few days. His first big fever, his first stomach illness and his first diaper rash. Way to finish the first year with a bang! No worries though, by yesterday he was feeling much better and ready to celebrate his big day. Oh, one last first. His first jet-ski ride!!! I don’t have pictures to prove it, but E had a great time.
Birthday boat ride on Pop’s pontoon boat. Our little sailor was tired at his point, so didn’t enjoy the boat trip all that much.
Delicious picnic dinner with Pop, and Grandma and Grandpa Loftin. Tiki was feeling under the weather so she wasn’t there and we all missed her dearly.

E wears short shorts! These shorts are from the end of last summer. They fit fine then, but seem a little bit snug now. I guess as it warms up we will have to get him some more appropriately sized warm weather attire. I got to say it though. I love those cute little thighs.

E wants to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day. Isn’t he festive sitting in his new red chair, wearing his “Prince Charming” shirt? Both J and I were thrilled to have each other and E as our Valentines.
Today E’s class celebrated with a card exchange. Here is E helping to make the cards that were given out to his classmates today. He sure does love to do art projects. His teachers call him “Picaso”.
J and I celebrated Valentines Day in our traditional manner. We made Rachel Ray’s “You Won’t Be Single For Long Vodka Cream Pasta”. We have made it for dinner on Valentines Day every year for the last 4 years.
